Wells Index 847 3hp Variable Speed MILL 48 Table Dro Power Drawbar Bridgeport
Up for sale is this 2003 Wells Index model 847 milling machine. This is equipped with a 3 axis Acurite DRO in addition to a Mitutoyo digital quill read out. The mill has an air operated power draw bar with a 30 taper spindle. The motor is a 3HP Baldor and the head is variable speed from 50-4200 RPM. The 4200 RPM is continuous duty unlike a Bridgeport. The head also has a back gear and power down feed selections. The mill has a quill riser which allows extra Z axis height. This is a large heavy duty milling machine that is USA made. This is a much sturdier machine than a regular Bridgeport. Wells Index is still in business in Michigan making great milling machines. Their service and support is second to none but it is a brand many folks do not know exists. This machine is powered up and local inspection is encouraged.
