Antique rare unusual Electric motor 5 HP variable speed single phase
This is a very unusual Electric motor, it is a Weidenhoff 5 HP variable speed unit that runs on single phase power. It is rated for 110/220 power, but I image it would be unrealistic to run it on 110 due to the amps required. Rpm range is from 750 to 5500, it has a high and low range gearbox, you turn the brush holder to vary the speed of the rotor speed to get the wide rpm range that the motor is capable of. I have never seen another one like this one, I planned to use it on a wood lathe, but it hasn’t happened and I’m tired of moving it around. I’ve never run this motor, but I’m happy to hook it up and run it if someone’s interested in it. The guy I bought it from had it running, but it’s been several years. I’m in the Portland Oregon area.
